Profile

My interest and fascination with the photographic image began at the age of fourteen when I started using my father's camera, a 35mm "Zenith E". Things have come a long way since then.

I started work in a Photolab at the age of 16 which gave me a good insight into what makes a great image. From there I continued to work with a number of different photographers throughout Dublin as both a Darkroom Technician and Studio Assistant. I set up my own Photolab in Dublin in 1984. In 1990 I added a Photographic Studio. This enabled me to offer Ad-Agencies and Design Companies a studio with full in-house processing facilities. That was all back in the days of film and darkrooms.

In 1997 I took a career break and travelled to Australia.

I still occasionally use film and medium/large format cameras on certain jobs. However digital has taken over almost completely and these days my computer is my darkroom.

As for the future, I will continue to test my creativity and technical knowledge and look forward to the challenges of new and interesting assignments.
